Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor and engineer whose contributions to science have given birth to almost every technological feat in human history. He is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system. A lot of his work has been undiscovered and possibly destroyed. He is one of the most proficient and influential inventors to have ever lived.
Nikola Tesla was born in Serbia on 10 July 1856. Tesla was the fourth of five children. He worked for a short time at the Edison Machine Works in New York City before he struck out on his own. He became famous as an inventor and often demonstrated his achievements to celebrities and scholars. In May 1888 George Westinghouse bought the patent rights to Tesla’s system of alternating-current dynamos, transformers, and motors which emerged as a rival to Edison. He died in New York City in January 1943 after which, most of his works fell into obscurity.
